Powergrid is a software plugin developed by Grid Networks, a Seattle based company
that specializes in high bandwidth data transfer applications for video and
data. Powergrid works by connecting to multiple servers at the same time,
collecting data from all simultaniously. This allows data to be
sent faster and more reliably than traditional methods.
GW Channel uses powergrid to deliver its video streams, enablding DVD (and sometimes HD) quality for all material uploaded to the website. It is also occasionally used to transfer large files, which also retain better speed and reliability than traditional setups.
